Whimsical designs for infant and children by Holli Yeoh are a fun way to use self patterning or hand dyed sock yarn. What a great vest to wear over a shirt! Using strands taken from self-patterning yarn, the squares of color on the back echo the stripes on the front to great effect. Because it's sleeveless, it's really built for action! Instructions for: 0-6 mo, 6-12 mo, 1-2 yrs, 2-3 yrs. Yarn needed: 1 (1,2,2) balls (50g) self patterning sock yarn (MC) 1 (1,1,2) balls (50g) Solid 4-ply yarn (CC) (50g or a 1 3/4 oz skein = 210m or 229 yds). 18 yds (17m) of solid 4-ply yarn (CC2) for front band. 14 yds (13m) of solid 4-ply yarn (CC3) for arm bands. Buttons 4 (5,5,5) 3/8 (1 cm). Needles: 1 pair 2.5 mm (US 1) & 1 pair 3 mm (US 2 ), 2.5 mm circular needle, 32. Gauge: 30 sts. and 42 rows to 4 (10 cm) with the large needles Please note these are designed by a Canadian Holli Yeoh. So the needles are given in metric size, use the US needle size to obtain the gauge unless you have own the metric needles.
