- Hyphen Boy Designs are fabulous patterns designed by Matthew Hesson-Mcinnis. Matthew by day is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Coordinator of the Quantitative Psychology Sequence at Illinois State University. His lovely designs are a result of his love of knitting. You must try one of his fabulous designs for your next knitting project.
- For those of you who do not hang out with Canadians might be unfamiliar with the term Toque (pronounced tuke), which refers to a warm, woolen, ribbed hat.
- The designer Matthew Hesson-McInnis found himself at odds with more traditional ribbed hats because his ears were never warm enough. Plus the fact the hat does not fold over at the same spot. Thus, he set about designing a hat that would, in fact, keep his ears warm. To keep the ears warm, he decided the hat should fold over not just once but twice, giving two extra layers of ribbing for a total of three layers of wool!
- With three layers, the toque is triple-warm, hence the name.
- Please note the hat pictured was made from Dream In Color Classy which can be found in our yarn section.
- The pattern includes four sizes: a small child's size, a large child/small adult size, a large adult size, and an XL/XXL adult size.
- All but the largest size can be knit with 100g of worsted weight wool.
- The yardage is as follows 140, 190, 220, 250 yards.
- Needles size US 5 two 16 inch circulars.
- Finished to fit head sizes 15 to 27 inches.
