Hyphen Boy Designs Great Excuse Scarf Pattern Hyphen Boy Designs Great Excuse Scarf Pattern
Hyphen Boy Designs are fabulous patterns designed by Matthew Hesson-Mcinnis. Matthew by day is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Coordinator of the Quantitative Psychology Sequence at Illinois State University. His lovely designs are a result of his love of knitting. You must try one of his fabulous designs for your next knitting project. Matthew Hesson McInnis wanted to design a scarf that would have clean vertical stripes of color, with lots of softness and drape. Elsebeth Lavold's Silky Wool provided the perfect blend of silk and wool in the most scrumptious colors (gorgeous on their own and in combinations that can be subtle or striking). So, why is this pattern called the Great Excuse Scarf? To achieve those vertical color stripes, the pattern would have to call for lots of intarsia color changes (yuck), for lots of long, seams (double-yuck), or for knitting the long way. He took this last approach, and so each row has hundreds of stitches (but there are only 62 rows).
